Top 3 most popular fight gear reviews of 2016
We released a huge number of reviews in 2016, working with some great brands, and we’ll have many more in the future. Out of all of our reviews released this year, these were by far our most popular reviews. Check them out and let us know what you think.
Everlast Pro Style Elite Boxing Gloves Review
The Everlast Pro Style Elite Boxing Gloves seem to be an upgraded version of their regular ‘Pro Style’ training gloves. They feature a slightly different fit and shape with a couple of different features. They’re aimed more at beginners than professionals, and so have a great value price point to appeal to those starting or looking for a great deal. They’re designed more for boxing, but will work just as well for other martial arts like kickboxing or Muay Thai.
Fairtex BGV1 Boxing Gloves Review
The BGV1 is Fairtex’s flagship product, and is famous throughout Thailand and all across the world, with a design tailored for Muay Thai practitioners. These boxing gloves are available in two variants, a ‘breathable’ version with a mesh palm for increased breathability, and a standard version with a classic leather palm. The version reviewed here is the standard version. It’s important to note that some BGV1 variants also have a grip bar built in, however the ones reviewed don’t. I can imagine this may put some people off the gloves, yet for some people this is a big plus.
RDX Power Fighter Leather Sparring Gel Boxing Gloves Review
The RDX Power Fighter Leather Sparring Gel boxing gloves, also known as the RDX Leather Ultra Gold boxing gloves, are great gloves which although the name implies these are sparring gloves, are great for any use. They’re designed for boxing, but also work well for kickboxing and Muay Thai. As with other RDX gloves, these feature ventilated mesh palms for breathability. The gloves come with a grip bar and an attached thumb, which somewhat limit the flexibility of the hand when clinching for anybody training Muay Thai, but this improve the overall boxing experience apart from that. These gloves also feature a long, angled Velcro cuff, which increase wrist support.

The Fighter’s Degree – Greg Wootton
The following article was written for Fight Quality by Greg Wootton, a UK Muay Thai fighter, personal trainer and Coach.
It’s not easy being a fighter. Especially to be a great one. For decades we have been burdened with the stereotype of the simple minded brute. Fighting was once considered a poor man’s game, only chosen by those who didn’t have the brains to excel elsewhere. This, however, is changing.
Why do you need to wear hand wraps for Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai and other combat sports?
Chances are that at some point towards the beginning of your training you were told you need hand wraps to wear underneath your gloves. Hand wraps of course make your hand safer, but not many people actually know how they do that.
