Nicknames and fighters have always gone together, with the best ones becoming more well known that the fighters actual names; like ‘Money’ Mayweather or ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Some people go as intimidating as possible with their nicknames, some are boastful, a fair few are funny and quite a lot are terrible. Here at Fight Quality we’ve put together a list of our favourite funny fighter nicknames for you to enjoy:
Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili
Like a lot of the names on this list this one speaks for itself; who wants to lose to a guy called touchy fili?
Jeremiah ‘Was a Bullfrog’ Douglass
What’s better than a nickname about a frog that likes a drink or two? And I can’t be the only one who is reminded of Chandler from Friends singing the song?
Ian ‘Uncle Creepy’ McCall
While it’s a funny nickname, Uncle Creepy does sends shivers down my spine. Ian McCall is going to touch you when you’re alone in that octagon with him, and you can’t do anything about it.
Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza
Everyones seen the Tasmanian Devil cartoons, where he attacks in a whirlwind of limbs and forms a little tornado – who wants to fight against that? The fact it works perfectly with boxer Pazienza’s last name was a bonus, he was mostly known as Vinny Paz (and has a great film about his absolutely insane career)
Mark ‘The Hand Of’ Godbeer
The Hand Of God is unstoppable, all powerful and you can’t stand against it. While the nickname is quite funny, if it gets your opponent thinking like that it’s a powerful psychological tool as well.
Ryan ‘Darth’ Bader
Darth Bader! Like from Star Wars! This nickname is so simple, it’s so obvious and that’s what makes it so funny.
James ‘Sexual’ Heelan
In a similar vein to Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili no one wants to get beaten up by a fighter named after a Marvin Gaye song!
Ulysses ‘Useless’ Gomez
You’ve got to be pretty confident in your abilities and comfortable laughing at yourself to carry the nickname ‘Useless’ with you throughout your career, but it does make for a good nickname if you can bear it.
Rick ‘The Ginger With Intent To Injure’ Pfeifer
I’m a massive fan of Rick’s nickname because of how long it is – imagine being the announcer for his fights and having to get that mouthful out every time you say his full name!
‘The Dean Of Mean’ Keith Jardine
Keith Jardine really likes rhyming, which is why a nickname that could have been intimidating just comes out as funny.
‘Super duper’ Bobby Cooper
Superduper is the perfect nickname for Bobby Cooper who similar to Keith Jardine must really like rhyming.
Juan ‘The Hispanic Causing Panic’ Lazcano
Another long but hilarious nickname, similar to Rick Pfeifer, boxer Juan Lazcano’s record show’s his nickname is close to accurate.
Steve ‘The Creepy Weasel’ Montgomery
While it doesn’t send shivers down your spine like Ian McCall’s ‘Uncle Creepy’ Steve ‘The Creepy Weasel’ has a nickname that’s as confusing as it is funny.
Matthew ‘The Care Bear’ Perry
The Care Bear is a nickname that’s almost too sweet to fight, but Matthew Perry does cuddle as much as his cute nickname will have you believe.
Jeff ‘Scary Nickname’ Nader
What do you do when you can’t think of a good nickname? Ask Jeff Nader.
