InFightStyle sent us a pair of these shorts to try out and see what we think about them.

About the shorts

The odyssey shorts are one of several retro style short designs in the InFightStyles range, all of which feature stand out designs, but these are a limited edition run and only fifty pairs were created in this odyssey design.

Visuals

The retro design of these shorts means that they are slightly shorter than average, and have have flared and steeply cut legs – the outside seam of the legs sits high on the thigh. I think InFightStyle have done a great job with these, I don’t think they’d look out of place in an 80’s Lumpinee Stadium fight video. The design of these shorts is also a modern take on the bright, flashy retro colours. Instead of a single bright colour these shorts feature a blue, space like scene as the body of the shorts topped off with a black waist band. ‘Muay.Thai’ is stitched across the front of the shorts in a stylised font, picked out in white with a glittering blue border. The InFightStyle logo is on the bottom of the left leg and waistband of the shorts, and InFightStyle is stitched in silver bordered with black across the back of the shorts. I love how these shorts look, they’re an amazing blend of beautiful design and retro style, and like many retro shorts they stand out in the gym. The fact that they’re limited edition means that you’ll stand out even further, as it’s unlikely other people will have a matching set!

Materials and Craftsmanship

One of the first things I noticed unpacking these shorts was the material. Traditionally the majority of Muay Thai Shorts are made of a satin type material that feels smooth and silky. InFightStyle have bucked the trend and used a microfiber material, which feels softer and has much better moisture wicking properties than the traditional satin. This material is the secret of the beautiful, intricate designs InFightStyle are able to print on their shorts, as well as the reason why the designs are so durable.
The craftsmanship is also top notch, with double seams in all the high stress areas and on all the stitched on logos. This, coupled with the high quality materials used in production, should mean the shorts are very durable.

Comfort/use

I’ve been testing these shorts over the last few weeks and have to say they are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. The retro style and cut of these shorts mean that they allow for a full range of motion on kicks and the microfiber material makes them feel very light. The material also helps wick away moisture during training, adding to the comfort during longer sessions.

Cost

You can buy a pair of Odyssey shorts from the InFightStyle website for $55, though as I’ve said they have only made 50 pairs, so stocks are very limited. I think that this represents great value for money, the shorts are extremely high quality, the design is amazing and they’re very comfortable to use.
