Brand

Beginning in 2011, YOKKAO has become recognized as the World’s premier Muay Thai brand. Working behind the scenes of the brand is a professional team of former fighters and specialists developing high exposure international events while producing the highest quality gear and innovative aesthetic designs. YOKKAO is the most requested brand creating what has since the beginning been called by the Muay Thai Masters and Nak Muays: “The best fight equipment in the market”. Handcrafted from two factories in Thailand, a Fight Team composed of the best fighters from across the planet and a specialized team in R&D, YOKKAO is the leading manufacturer of Muay Thai and MMA Gear in the World.

Visuals

YOKKAO’s neon ankle supports are, exactly like the name suggests, very brightly coloured. They’re available in four different colours, green, yellow, orange and pink and are one-size-fits-all. Straight out the bag they look amazing, though they have a simple aesthetic. The majority of the support is the selected colour (in this case orange), and along the top, bottom and around the heel of the foot is a white trim. Across the front of the ankle, just below the top of the support the ‘YOKKAO Muay Thai and MMA’ logo has been transferred onto the the material. These supports work brilliantly with the other YOKKAO products (I chose orange to match my YOKKAO Carbon Muay Thai Shorts, which we’ve previously reviewed), or as a flash of bright colour to contrast with darker gear.

Materials

The ankle supports are made from 100% cotton, and the material itself feels very high quality. Its comfortable, doesn’t irritate the skin during training and stretches enough to fit most people. That being said, if you have particularly large or skinny ankles you could find yourself out of luck with these, as there’s no size options.
Whilst the material of this support is great quality, I was really disappointed in the transfer of the YOKKAO logo on the front of the support. After just a couple of uses of this transfer was starting to peel off. Whilst this obviously doesn’t affect the use of the product, it does ruin the aesthetic slightly.

Comfort/use

I’ve suffered with ankle during training pain in the past, so I was keen to test out a pair of ankle supports. I’ve found these very comfortable while I’ve been testing them – like I said before the material stretches nicely, which means it provides a tight fit round your ankle. This means they stay in position well throughout training sessions, and the soft cotton means they don’t irritate the skin.

Cost

Available for $14 on the YOKKAO website these are slightly pricier than comparable brands, such as the Fairtex ankle supports we’ve tested before, and whilst I feel like the materials and comfort of the supports make them worth the price, I also feel like the poor quality of the YOKKAO logo transfer is quite disappointing considering the price.
