Another new pair of gloves from Cahoonas this month, following on with the same the vibrant yellow design as the Cahoonas MMA Grappling Gloves we featured on our New Fight Gear round-up back in April.

Everlast

A couple of new items of compression gear from Everlast, but also a new set of colours added to the Everlast Powerlock range. Personally we think the white and gold version looks beautiful!

Fairtex

Fairtex have just released images of a brand new headguard. While it’s probably a bit bulky for some, it looks like a much more protective version of face-saver style headguards, which would be great for anybody with nose or jaw problems. No word on where we can buy it just yet, but will likely be rolled out to most stores soon.

Hayabusa

You may have already heard about Hayabusa’s authentic looking Kanpeki Elite range. While we saw versions 1 and 2 of the gear, Hayabusa only ever released a version 3 of the boxing gloves… Until now! Added to the range are updated versions of the Kanpeki Elite MMA gloves, Headgear and Striking shin guards, with designs similar to their popular Tokushu Regenesis Series. For some reason they’ve still not updated their grappling shin guards, however the 2.0 versions are still available online.

Sambo Boxing

We’ve recently become aware of Sambo Boxing, a brand which you can currently find on sale over at MMA HUB. The gloves aim for a pretty classic look, but the colour choices are far from traditional, featuring bright greens and oranges to stand out from the crowd.

TITLE Boxing

Title have released two new pairs of gloves this month; the Sculpted Thermo Foam 2.0 Training Gloves and Bag Gloves from the same range. The gloves seem look similar visually, however the difference appears to be in the sizing, with the Training Gloves measured in weights, while the Bag Gloves are measured in actual sizes.

Yokkao

This month Yokkao have released a range of new colours for their famous Carbon Shorts (Take a look at our review of them), with a couple of Neon colours. We’re liking the understated nature of the Neon Emerald shorts with it’s clean, white side panels. Which are your favourites?

  1. Just curious, given you review new fight gear, don’t you ever wonder when something really new will be released for the combat sports arena? I mean how many types of boxing gloves can you have? It seems the market is over saturated with the same products in different colors.

    1. Hi Allison, really good question! Sometimes that’s true, there are a lot of brands pumping out the same things, but at the same time there is a lot of variation in gear. Take a look at two of the top premium brands, Cleto Reyes and Winning for example, both seen as some of the best in the business, but completely different to use. When we review gear we like to look out for these intricacies and differences.

In terms of innovation, it’s rare to find anything groundbreaking, but progress does happen. Take a look at the Fairtex headgear above which has headed in a less typical direction, or the Title gloves above which use knuckle shielding, something that not too long ago was a new technology. One of the more recent trends is the rise in gloves like the Everlast Pro Style Elite Gloves with a shielded wrist, with brands like Twins, Danger Equipment and Title now producing similar gloves.

Hayabusa is probably one of the more experimental brands out there. Just take a look at the unique ‘Boa’ closure system on their Mirai range, or the sweat absorbant thumb on their Tokushu Regenesis range. SISU are another brand who broke the mould with their unique, slim mouth guards.
