We spoke to Megan to find out a little bit about her favourite gear and training advice.

Hi Megan! What’s your favourite piece of fight gear?

My favourite piece of fight gear would have to be my Title Boxing Platinum 8oz lace-up boxing gloves.

What sort of training do you use them for?

I use the 8oz gloves for all my striking sessions as well as one-on-one sessions with my coach.

How long have you been using them?

I’ve only been using them for 2-3 months.

What was the reason behind you getting them in the first place?

Well I moved to the US and I needed to get new gear. I had gotten some other 14oz gloves, shinguards, headgear etc. from Title Boxing and I really liked the feel of them so I went in and picked up a pair of 8oz gloves so I could use them for my striking pad sessions.

What is it that you like most about the gloves and why?

I really like the feel of them. They have great support for both the hand and wrist which I like. They’re very streamlined and the material is long lasting.

With your fight gear, do you tend to stick to a few select brands, or do you like to use a nice variety?

If I get a particular brand and I don’t like it, I’ll shop around. If I find a brand that I love and I wouldn’t want to use anything else, then I’m going to stick to that brand.

Is there any other gear you couldn’t train without?

I couldn’t train without a good pair of 12oz boxing gloves. I use 12oz for almost everything from drilling to sparring. I haven’t found a brand that I absolutely love for these gloves yet, but I’m still searching.

What pushes you to do your best during training?

I want to be the best athlete in my weight division in the world. That’s what drives me every single day. I’m always looking to learn and improve. I don’t take much time off after fights, I always try to get right back into training as quickly as I can. Hard work ethic and determination pays off.

What’s your best training tip for aspiring fighters?

It’s never going to get easy. You just learn to push yourself more and more each day. Don’t be disheartened if you get beat up in sparring or you have trouble getting a certain technique, if you practice enough, it’ll come. I have this quote in my room that says: “Going in one more round when you don’t think you can, that’s what makes all the difference in your life.” There are no lies on the mat, you can only make excuses if you don’t want it enough.
